>Hyundai i10 sold 19,500 in the UK in 2010 and it is not difficult to see why. This is the alternative budget city car more elegant, like the Fiat 500, all package customers expect from a modern car in a comprehensive and affordable. There are three options and the four-cylinder gasoline engine, the first with less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions, and while the style is unremarkable that does not mean unattractive. Sure-footed handling is the icing on the cake.

In early 2011, the Hyundai i10 a facelift that has made a town car more attractive. Lights, bumper and grille have all been postponed – it now follows the hexagonal shape seen on the ix35. The result is a car that looks a little awkward on small wheels, but that falls in line with Hyundai’s family continues to improve. The cabin is far from attractive, but a variety of solid plastic should be able to stand by the cut and the pressure of everyday use. For the facelift there is a redesigned dashboard and light blue for the screen display, while the rear passengers now get a cup holder. Even the most basic versions get air conditioning (unlike rival Kia Picanto), power windows, four airbags and a stereo six speakers. Thank you to a longer wheelbase than most cars in its class, the rear legroom surprisingly generous, too.

Two engines are available – three-cylinder 68bhp gasoline unit-specific 1.0-liter eco i10 Blue, and 1.25 liter four-cylinder 85bhp, which was boosted by 10bhp to a facelift in 2011. Both need to be revved hard to produce the best, but they agree in the light car and agile character. Weight control is consistent, strong brakes and good traction – though tires with low rolling resistance on the i10 blue bought less on the asphalt.

Eco-indicators and stop-start mounted on the i10 blue, and the two work seamlessly with the controls. Greenhouse three adults can go back and start 258 liters – which extends to 910 liters with the rear seats folded – is parallel to the MINI Clubman. Included in the models of comfort and style is an additional storage compartment beneath the boot floor.

The pre-facelifted i10 scored four out of five stars for adult protection and the same for child protection in 2007 when it was tested by Euro NCAP. Remarkable for a car of its class, the ABS as standard, while the passengers pre-tensioning front seat belts to help reduce injuries in an accident. No reminders or reported problems with the Hyundai i10 and finished an impressive fourth in the survey of pilots reliability of power in 2011.
